THE YAKISTORY

Yurippi is owned and operated by Tin Jung Shea.  His love of Yakitori began in 2008 when he spent a year in Japan, frequenting Yakitori Bars all over Sapporo.  The idea to bring this concept back to Sydney sprung from nights spent at Daikichi (a small Yakitori Bar) in Nishioka.  It was a place where the likes of university students, young couples, small groups and salary-men could all come and enjoy a quiet drink and delicious char-grilled Yakitori Skewers.  Whether it was to unwind after a day at university, celebrating a birthday, Nomikai (parties) or for drowning the sorrows of Japanese work-life, Daikichi always provided a warm and welcoming environment – a philosophy that Yurippi seeks to follow.

Upon returning to Sydney, Tin started with humble beginnings running a South-East Asian-inspired skewers menu at The Cliff Dive.  His new restaurant answers to the growing demand for traditional Japanese cuisine and the relaxed izakaya-style environment that offers a casual but high quality dining experience.

Before The Cliff Dive, Tin along with lifelong friend Mitomo Somehara, began a monthly food stall at the Crows Nest markets, which triggered their passion for mastering Yakitori Skewers and delivering their own delicious, fresh, and high-quality Japanese food that appeals to consumers of all ages.

Now, Tin and Mitomo are returning to where it all began, bringing the humble eating and drinking culture of Japan to Crows Nest with an extensive range of skewers and complementing side dishes. Sharing plate options, a dedicated kids menu, and your favourite Japanese soft drinks are also available.
